The 12th ITS European Congress will take place from 19 to 22 June 2017 at the Strasbourg Convention Centre under the theme “ITS Beyond Borders”.
Strasbourg’s tram system is the largest in France and it was the first city in France to opt for a return to the use of trams in order to change the way the city operates and contribute to a healthier climate.
The city is also a pioneer in other areas of sustainable mobility, by improving the walkability, building and extensive network of cycle tracks, introducing car sharing schemes and anew road code.
Strasbourg is a benchmark for innovative mobility. The city has introduced a new road code and set up social areas within the city, a clear sign of its strategy for sharing the public space and delivering an excellent quality of life for its inhabitants.
The Congress consists of an extensive exhibition, a dedicated area for live demonstrations and a programme of high level and technical sessions providing the opportunity for the industry’s experts and political leaders to discuss current issues both formally at sessions and more informally during an extensive social programme.
The Congress will also host the second edition of the Mayors’ Summit. The Summit co-hosted by the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg and ERTICO – ITS Europe will be a gathering of city mayors and leaders from Europe exploring opportunities, experiences and strategies related to present and future contributions Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) can bring to seamless travel and the delivery of sustainable, efficient and innovative mobility.
The 12th European ITS Congress 2017 organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe in partnership with the European Commission, and hosted by the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg and the Region Alsace Champagne – Ardenne Lorraine.
